SEED does not have any branches.

No, SEED is not a special school.

It is a center that offers special education and related services to children and adolescents individually or in very small groups.

SEED is approved by the Community Development Authority in Dubai.

SEED functions from Mondays to Saturdays.

On all Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, we open at 8 am and close at 5 pm.

On all Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, we are available from 8 am to 7 pm.

Yes, we offer all our services on prior appointment basis.

You should bring the original or a photocopy of all the following:

1)  Referral letter from the school or doctor who has referred your child to us.

2)  All medical reports of your child + MRI / CT Scan Films (if any).

3) All previous assessment reports of your child.

4) Reports from your child’s school, if there are any.

5) Any other documents of your child that you feel is important for us to review.

6) Copy of you and your child’s Emirates ID.

At SEED, you have the opportunity to meet all the experts including our consultant special educator, psychologist, and behaviour interventionist for the same fee that you pay for assessment.

This is in addition to meeting our chief consultant who is a rehabilitation practitioner, professional special educator, and a psychologist.

In most instances, you will meet our Chief Consultant first.

He will gather relevant information about your child to decide further course of action.

This will take approximately 60 minutes.

Based on the information you provide, the chief consultant will suggest (a) an assessment, (b) suggest intervention, or (c) refer your child for specialist consultation with a neurologist or a psychiatrist.

Children who struggle in school academically are often referred for a psychoeducational assessment to understand the underlying reasons for it.

These assessments provide a profile of cognitive, learning, and behavioural skills that are age-referenced.

Specifically, your child’s basic academic skills such as reading, writing, and arithmetic, their performance in learning academic subjects, language and spatial abilities, attention and concentration, reasoning and problem-solving skills, working memory, visual-motor integration, and executive functions like planning, organization, and impulse control are all assessed during a psychoeducational assessment.

At SEED, a team of psychologists, special educators, and a behaviourist conduct these assessments.

Our assessments are very detailed and comprehensive.

Hence, you may expect at least 3 to 6 hours for the assessments.

Additional assessments of your child’s speech and language skills will need another 1 to 2 hours.

The assessments might be completed in 1 or 2 days depending on the nature of your child’s difficulties, the speed of at which your child is able to complete the task, and or your child’s cooperation.

Some children are able to complete all our assessments in one day while others require multiple visits to SEED to complete their assessments.

Unlike most centers where only a psychologist conducts a psychoeducational assessment, SEED takes pride in making available an interdisciplinary team of a Consultant Special Educator, a Consultant Psychologist, a Consultant Speech and Language Pathologist, and a Consultant Behaviourist who conducts this assessment, led by our Chief Consultant who is a Rehabilitation Practitioner.

Such an assessment of course takes time.

Please keep in mind that psycho-educational assessment is an intensive process, requiring interviews, the input of parents, teachers, and the child, one-on-one testing sessions, and observations.

But it is done with the best interest of your child in mind.

Once all the assessments are over, the multidisciplinary team will prepare a report on the assessment findings within 7 days.

It is very important that you meet us in person to collect the report as we would like to explain the findings of the assessment and guide you in making further decisions.

A senior consultant speech and language therapist has been identified and recruited for SEED.

Her services will be made available as soon as the necessary approval has been received from the Dubai Health Authority for her appointment.

Yes, SEED has a program for conducting our assessments in schools that are far from Dubai.

If you are a school authority located in the Emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain, and wish to invite SEED to your school for a screening, assessment, and identification camp, please contact our center manager for details.

If you are a parent and your child attends school in one of the above-mentioned Emirates, then please inform your child’s inclusion team about this program.

Yes, SEED is open to internship opportunities.

We welcome interns who are pursuing an undergraduate or post-graduate course in education, special education, psychology, social work, medicine, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, applied behaviour analysis, etc.

Schools can affiliate themselves with SEED for all activities related to inclusion which includes the following services: school-wide screening for special needs, identification, developing individualized educational plans, and interventions.
